President Bill Stableford

President Bill's Vision for the Guilford Rotary Club for 2015-2016 Year

Bill discussed what he sees as our club’s strengths and why we have a great club such as our large membership (70+) who work hard so that we can have the economic resources to give back to society.  Many clubs are constrained by low membership leading to low revenue and insufficient funds to carry out community projects.  We have dedicated members who provide financial support such as the Staschke family helping out with LobsterFest and all the members who purchase tables at the Fest and, of course, all the aid and help the Bishop family has contributed over the years.  We also have the great kids from GHS’s Interact club (with the help of Al Jacobs and others) who supplement our members in running the Fest.

We are also fortunate to have new members who have stepped up to leadership on a number of projects:  Michelle Call taking over on guest speaker duties; Sam Appleton with organizing Fest tables; Suzanne Locke (Fest; Guilford Fair Day parade and Community Dining Room); Don McGregor (Fest) and Elmer Kessler (club photographer and treasurer) and Cindy Cartier (Guilford Spring Cleanup chair).

We have two young members recently added to the Board of Directors (Dustin Galvin and Scott Staschke) and Mike Ganci will be on the Board this year as Club Steward whose duties are to monitor the disbursement of grant funds.

Bill described the goals he has for the next year including: Perpetuate and sustain all current fund raisers; continue our current service projects including the new one – Guilford Fair Day parade; continue to provide financial support for charitable works.  One project Bill would like to see increased support is the Uganda Call to Care well water project and to help build one more home for Habitat for Humanity. Bill believes we can leverage fund our contribution with District and Foundation support.

Bill would like to increase our contributions to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).  We currently have 54 sustaining members and he would like us to have 100% contribution to TRF at whatever level we can; increase club membership by + 3 to 5 if possible; increase support for Michelle Call in terms of program speakers and increase our publicity for projects we support in the community.
